ALEXANDER DEJONG, creator of BARRE NONE, is a renowned barre teacher whose resume includes Exhale, where he claims title to being a top-ranked instructor. As one of the original instructors, Alexander also helped build the renowned Physique 57 barre studio. Alexander hails from Holland, where he grew up training alongside his sister, an Olympic medalist. He later translated the discipline derived from grueling cross-sport workouts into the demanding dance and theater arts. Alexander has performed as a dancer, actor and singer on the Broadway stage for many years and is the creator of two musicals currently in development. Integrating his athletic experience together with dance and barre, Alexander is famous for teaching a comprehensive, tough and notoriously high drama total body barre workout for his devoted followers.
BARBARA BOOLUKOS was trained in the original barre technique by Lydia Bach, owner of the iconic Lotte Berk Method in New York. Barbara became a popular instructor at the Lotte Berk studio. While teaching there she took daily classes with Elisabeth Halfpapp and Fred DeVito. Barbara met Alexander in 2006 when they both helped jumpstart Physique 57. Later they became colleagues again at Exhale and they have continued their friendship to this day. Barbara uses her many years of barre-and fitness experience to teach a comprehensive barre class at BARRE NONE. In addition, she does personal training for a devoted clientele.
“I’m excited to bring my passion for barre exercise to Barre None Studio in New York. I fell in love with the method 15 years ago.
What I love about barre exercise is that it’s a total body workout without requiring heavy weights. It helped me create a strong core, steady gait and good posture. I love the challenge of continually improving my form and the fluidity of movement. The joy that I experience when I take class myself is what I strive to convey when I teach”.
I teach between New York and Connecticut. Looking forward to having you in my class.
